Laurice Green, 18, and Lenell Green, 17, both of Joliet, face up to 15 years in prison when they are sentenced by Circuit Judge Daniel Rozak on Nov. 17. Probation is not a sentencing option.
The victim was at the brothers’ residence in the 1300 block of North Raynor late in the evening of March 5. Two other men, Anthony Alexander, 20, of Plainfield, and an unidentified individual also were at the house with the victim.
Laurice Green took the girl into a bedroom, punched her in the eye and raped her, according to trial testimony. Laurice Green then held her while Lenell Green and the unidentified man sexually assaulted her. After the rape, they threw her out of the house without her pants or shoes and ordered Alexander to drive her home.
Alexander also is charged with criminal sexual assault and is awaiting trial. The charge alleges he beat and raped the girl later that night in his car.
The victim escaped the vehicle in the 600 block of Center Street and was rescued by someone who lives on the block. The Good Samaritan brought her a blanket, carried her into his house and telephoned police.
“Only the most brazen of degenerates would gang up to commit such a vicious attack on a defenseless young girl and then throw her out in the cold to be victimized again,” State’s Attorney Glasgow said. “A lengthy prison term is a suitable punishment for these two violent lowlifes.”
Assistant State’s Attorneys Jim Long, Chris Regis and Adam Capelli prosecuted the case.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
